Project Coordinator’s Message

I first of all thank God for the opportunity of being the Project Coordinator. On behalf of Rap Tech Institute CSDP, I would like to welcome you to the Rap Tech Institute CSDP webpage. The project aims to assisting members to start on income generating projects and develop a saving culture. We have already changed lives of many people by improving their standards of living and we hope to do this even much more.

As the Coordinator, I wish to thank all project partners for their commitment and hard work.  Many thanks also to Project Advisers for their great ideas that have guided us a lot

I again thank all project members for joining us and great thanks to the actives one that have started on income generating activities and have projects grow every month. We are proud of you.

I call upon teams from the national, regional and international organizations to collaborate and work with Rap Tech Institute CSDP since team work will help the project achieve its objectives very fast.  I also encourage readers of this page to submit their constructive suggestions to the project through our contacts.

Lastly I hereby take this chance to encourage everybody especially people of Ntungamo district where the project is currently being implemented to join the project.

Rap Tech Institute – CSDP is for everyone.  It is a project that will enable you share ideas with all the people, the rich and the poor.

PROJECT BACKGROUND

The project was founded by RAP TECH INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY, an institution of higher learning, as a faith-Based and Community initiative to improve the standards of living of people. The project was designed to work with communities as a strategy for addressing community’s social problems such as poverty, hunger, poor sanitation through capacity building, creating income generating activities, entrepreneurial skill development, and enhancing people to realize their dreams.

VISION

To establish a project that will change the lives of people in communities in the world

PROJECT OBJECTIVES

• To enhance people in the communities to achieve their dreams
• To foster the development of people in the communities by encouraging them to plan, save and startup income generating activities
• To ensure that members of the project help other people  in the communities develop by joining the project
• To develop entrepreneurial skills of project members
• To look for the market of project members’ products
• To encourage commercialized agriculture in communities
• To ensure improved standards of living among the people in the communities
• To Improve health and reduce poverty of the population living in rural areas and sanitation services in rural communities

PROJECT ACTIVITIES

The following are the current activities of the project;

-Training

The project carries out training by conducting workshops of different categories that include the following;

-Skills Development Workshops

 For new areas not yet covered by the project, people in the communities are invited and encouraged to attend the workshops and for areas already covered by the project, skills development workshops are carried organized from a specified area every month. Developing and enhancing people’s dreams, entrepreneurial Skills development, and encouraging people to start up on some income generating activities, plus awarding hard working members (Project Achievers) are among the items that are emphasized in such workshops.

-Leadership Training

 Leaders Training workshops are conducted every month for all “Project Achievers” of the previous month (Project Achievers are active members of the project that will work hard and progress in their respective income generating projects and also help other people take their first steps of registering with the project and help them startup new income generating activities).

The project management will also organize and conduct leadership training workshops for other institutions and organizations that will invite us for the service.

-Special Skills Development Workshops

 The project will greatly welcome invitations by people with loving hearts for their people especially in areas where the project is not being implemented to organize and conduct special skills development workshops upon agreement of terms and conditions between the two parties.

-Income generating activities

 Every project member is encouraged to start at least one income generating activity. Most of the activities encouraged are agricultural based though activities in other areas such as business and technology among others are being done and encouraged

Appropriate guidance and training on how to start, develop and maintain such income generating activities are done during the Skills Training workshops.

-Assessment and Awarding Project Members

 Assessment and awarding of all project members in areas where the project is being implemented is done on a monthly basis. Through its network of Achievers, the project has managed to successfully access all members, and award hard working members and recognize them as project achievers at different levels. Development of strong networks of achievers especially through leadership training has effectively helped the project administration to effectively manage the ever increasing number of project members and project achievers.

-Rewarding Project Achievers

 The project is currently and intends to continue awarding all project achievers. This will be in monitory and non monitory ways such as gifts and other incentives. Awarding of project achievers is always done during monthly workshops that are held in different areas where the project is being implemented.

-Project Touring

 The project has always organized tours for particular groups of its members especially new members and project achievers. This has helped the project to expose members to new projects and other standard ways of carrying out some activities

-Marketing and sales

 Failure to access market was one of the major challenges people in the communities were facing. This made them lack the motivation to work hard and also produce in large quantities. The project aimed at marketing members’ products that previously lacked marketing strategies. This has generated local income to the members and also motivated them to work very hard and produce in large quantities since there is assured market

Today members collectively sell their produce to the project at reasonable prices and this has helped the project negotiate fair prices with potential buyers taking advantage of bulk supply from stores established in different areas where the project is being implemented.

Agricultural products that we currently have and that we can supply to you include;

• Banana
• Passion Fruits
• Honey
• Avocados
• Goats
• Pigs
• Hens
• Tomatoes
• Beans
• Dodo
• Egg plants

FUTURE PLANS

The project will continue starting up activities that will ensure market for its members produce and also improve the standards of living in the communities. The following are some of the activities that the project intends to start soon;

• Value addition and processing of agricultural products
• Life insurance of project members
• Home improvement facilities
• Improve lives of vulnerable families

 

MEET PROJECT ACHIEVERS

Project Name: Rutaremwa Geofrey

Project Identity Number: 000026

Project Location: At Muriisa Church of Uganda

Project being carried out: Tomato Garden

After the three day project workshop that was held at Muriisa Church of Uganda, Geofrey Rutaremwa who is a Lay Leader at Muriisa Church of Uganda immediately started on a Tomato Garden Project. He prepared a 500 tomato plant project and has become an example to other people in the area.
